Ok..here goes nothing! I've never blogged before. In fact, I've only really even read one blog, so this may be a bit unconventional. I guess I should start with introducing myself. My name is Whitney Deloney, and I'm a 22 year old stay at home wife/big sister. I work a few days a week at a store in my hometown, and the other days I pick my little brothers up from school and watch them until my mom is done with work. My husband, Lee, works as an information assurance analyst. I love love LOVE to cook for him and our family and friends. I got the idea for this blog because I am always posting what I'm cooking on facebook, and people are always commenting...they say "What are you cooking?" or "I need ideas, I'm in a rut!"At the same time I've been thinking about starting a blog..but I couldn't decide what I'd blog about. Then I saw a preview for this cool movie, Julie & Julia...and that was all the inspiration I needed.
I guess I should tell you a little bit about how I started cooking and what you'll find on the blog. I learned to cook from my grandmothers, my mom, my husband, and some experiments with cookbooks. The first thing I ever learned how to make was scrambled eggs w/ cheese on top, which I learned from Nannie. My next big dive into cooking didn't come until college when I was too broke to go out to eat every day! I'd just get a craving for something that I grew up eating at Mamaw's or Mom's and call them up and ask how to make it. They'd talk me through it, and a few times later I'd be able to make it with no phone call. Sometimes after I'd made it 5 or 6 times I'd get really brave and start making some adjustments of my own. Now I have my favorites that I make almost every week or two..but I also love to look for new things to add to the rotation.
I am by NO means an expert..I still don't know what I'm doing half the time and some things I'm just flat out scared to cook. I'm just a girl that couldn't survive in college on carrots and ranch alone and found out that she loved cooking!
Well this has been interesting..I'm already getting ideas for more posts and funny cooking stories to tell you. I've gotta go put away the five batches of spaghetti sauce I made tonight..post on that to follow soon!
thanks mom and lee, you're probably the only people who'll read this thing haha!
